A digital video archive system differs from a regular digital archive system in that it can manage multimedia resources, such as video and audio contents, as well as metadata textual documentation. Thus, a complete digital video archive system must combine various technologies of multimedia searching and presentation.

The basic purpose of this research is to illustrate the system frame design and the processes of the ODAE developed by Institute of Information Science, and introduce the characteristics and functions of the system. By the way of sharing their experiences, they wish there are some examples to refer while designing advanced Digital Archives Environment in the future.

The article shows what kinds of functions do NDAS should have according to the demand assay. Basing on the analyze results, we can design painting & calligraphy archives managerial system, and also describe precisely the frame of the system and integration with related system.

The basic of the research is to show the role and the functions of Multimedia Management System in DAS,and how to integrate and administer it in DAS.

The work of excavating and appraisal fishes resource is an continued project, when we’re discovering new species or delete a registered specie, it is possible that there is another person in other laboratory updating the fishes data bank. In the past , the message of changing fishes data bank is hard to synchronous released due to space-time limit. Consequently, sometimes it will have a fish with two names in different region. In convenience, everybody use their fishes data bank, times goes by , and there will be problem of a specie with different information.

The information technology which involve in Digital Archives is very extensive. During the development of ODAE, we found that digitizing, afterward making administer take quite important possession of ODAE. Therefore we should separate the part of multimedia management, and prove to be an independent afterward making unit.

This research basic objective is to illustrate ODAE’s frame design and substantial results, developed by Institute of Information Science, and introduce the characteristics and functions of the system. By the way of sharing their experiences, they wish there are some examples to refer while designing advanced Digital Archives Environment in the future. We expect by the operation of ODAE, it can soon become a digital resource center focus on human beings.

The research explores the problem of designing and internationalizing Metadata. With the interview experiences of ODAS and archive requirement, we start with analysis planning of the ODAS, and then confer the meaning and intension of Metadata. We also look for a balance between the standard of Metadata and the requirement of archive unit record, in order to reach the goal of archive resource exchange.
